Digital Solutions Analyst — Branford, CT

True Benefit is actively seeking to transform the small group health benefits underwriting process, leveraging a range of digital / insurtech capabilities, including: robotic process automation, machine learning, data analytics and workflow management technologies. Supporting True Benefit’s Vice President of Operations and Director of Digital Strategy, the Digital Solutions Analyst will collaborate with line of business representatives and our various technology partners to: identify opportunities for digital transformation of existing processes and information exchange; define business requirements, investment cases and functional prototypes; and, work independently or partner closely with technical specialists to implement working solutions leveraging the Microsoft Office 365 / Azure platform. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Defining business and technical requirements for new digital solutions and managing roadmaps for existing tools / solutions.
  • Developing functional prototypes / proofs of concept leveraging Office 365 technologies such as PowerApps, Power BI, Flow and SharePoint.
  • Providing governance and stewardship for True Benefit’s enterprise data assets housed on Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Supporting the definition and maintenance of technology policies and practices to ensure we meet our obligations for the protection of personal information for our insured population.
  • Maintaining awareness of the insurtech industry space and identifying potential leverage opportunities.
  • Providing coaching and guidance to True Benefit employees seeking to leverage end-user Office 365 capabilities for collaboration and information sharing.

    Underwriter II — Branford, CT or Plainville, CT

    If you have a proven ability to access situations quickly, apply established protocols against cases, think strategically, and reach consensus within an organization, we want you on our team. We are seeking an experienced, consultative healthcare underwriter to be a key member of our business. We look to our underwriters to be the best in the business, both analytically and in their ability to communicate their findings. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Prepare and guide rate quotations, product and benefit recommendations and risk arrangements with particular emphasis on assessing risk and reaching an appropriate level of premium, within parameters, to both protect our book of business, yet still grow the membership.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with sales force and health insurance carriers.
  • Diligently share your industry knowledge and continually educate our underwriters and expanding internal and external sales force in underwriting principles and methods.
  • Actively supports and collaborates with other underwriters.
  • Effectively mentor, coach and peer review Jr Underwriter and Underwriter I.
  • Assist in the development of underwriting training materials.
  • Contribute recommendations and support to initiatives focused on improving underwriting processes, procedures and practices.

This person will work efficiently and effectively to meet contracted turnaround times.   • Prepare rate quotations, product and benefit recommendations and risk arrangements with particular emphasis on assessing risk and reaching an appropriate level of premium, within parameters, to both sustain the profitability of our business while achieving growth objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and credibility with sales force and health insurance carriers.
  • Continually develop and share your industry knowledge and educate our expanding sales force on pricing principles and methods.
  • Contribute recommendations and support to initiatives focused on improving processes, procedures and practices.
  • Perform analyses using a range of productivity and analytical tools to analyze historical performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
